Peter’s Teaching on Leadership
In 1 Peter 5:1-5 we see the same things that Jesus spoke about in the gospels on Biblical leadership. Notice that Peter begins by saying the last words Jesus spoke to him in John 21; “tend the flock”. Notice what else he says in v.3; “neither as lording it over them (Mt.20:25), but making yourselves examples to the flock (Jn.13; Lk.22:27b)”. He also says that when the “chief” Shepherd comes that He will crown them.Peter remembers everything that Jesus ever said about leadership and he says it in these four verses even using the same words! The Biblical Leader is a servant of God and man seeking to please his/her Master.
